DESBOIS, Germaine (Gerry) September 23,1937 – June 14, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and aunty, at her home on Friday June 14, 2024, at the age of 86 with her family by her side.

She was born in Dalton Mills, Ontario moved to Sultan, Ontario at age of 12 and has resided in the Greater Toronto area for 66 years. Daughter of the late Ernest Beaudin Sr. and Blanche Beaudin (Ouellette), sister to Ernest (Bidou) Beaudin, wife of the late Orelle Desbois predeceased in 2015. Loving mother of Michael Desbois (wife Louise Goulais) of Chapleau, Louise Reville (husband Wayne) of Oliver, BC, Richard Desbois (wife Colleen) of Kirkfield, Lionel Desbois (significant partner, Cheryl Joyce) of Oshawa and predeceased son Robert Desbois in 2019. Dear grandmother of Chris Lortie of Chapleau, predeceased Amanda Desbois in 2023, Gilbert Desbois of Sault Ste. Marie, Rheal of Barrie, Steve Parron of Chapleau, April Anne Parron of Sudbury, Shawnalyn Banks of Lindsey and Donnie Oster of Brampton, Garett Reville of Calgary and Bronwynn Reville of Kelowna. Loving great grandmother of Cole Lortie and Maddison Lortie of Chapleau, Jenna Lortie, Emily and Jaidyn McConnell of Newmarket, Sonya Lortie of Chapleau, Trinty Dolye, Alita Dolye and Skylar Desbois of Chapleau, Trey Parron of Chapleau. Great great grandmother of Benjamin Lortie of Sault Ste Marie. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and a very dear sister-in-law Rolande Michaud of Val Caron and very dear friend Denise Joyce and all of her Legion Family.

Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Gerry knew she was a very kind, passionate and strong woman as someone who was an avid volunteer as an honorary member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 49 years. Her dedication towards helping others was recognized through her many volunteer appointments.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion- Branch 606-Pickering (1555 Bayly St, Pickering, Ontario L1W 2Z1, 905-839-2990) would be appreciated. Thank you.

An inurnment of her cremated remains will take place at the Chapleau Municipal Cemetery (Highway 129, Chapleau) on Saturday June 29, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Herve Sauve officiating.
