Obituary of Maria de Lourdes Santos

SANTOS, Maria de Lourdes - Passed away peacefully with her famiy by her side at the Santé Manitouwadge Health on Wednesday September 13th, 2023 at the age of 91 years. 

Beloved wife of the late Fernando dos Santos. Loving daughter of the late Manuel Domingos Benevides (father) and Ermelinda das Mercès Benevides (mother). The most beautiful caring mother of Grace Cabral (Victor), Natalie Santos (Oliver), Fernanda Ramalho (Carlos), Maggie Ratte (Richard), Paula Bellerose (André) and the late baby Fernanda dos Santos. Loving grandmother of Paulo (Melissa), Bella (Derrick), Nelson (Selina), Allison (Andy), Tanya (Wahid), Christopher (Vanita), Justin (Daniela), Vanessa (Jarred), Stacey (Ryan), Jamie, Trevor (Jesse), Dylan (Jessie) and Cameron (Emma-Jane). Proud great grandmother of Austin (Amy), Tanner (Kylee), Mariah, Miley, Navaeh, Madison, Talen, Cayden, Kayleigh, Marissa, Abby, Alex, Emma, Chayse, Rilyn, Luca, Olivia, Zayn, Adelina and Kiara.  Dear sister of the late Manuel Benevides (Conceiçaō), late sister Maria dos Angos (Joāo), sister Margarida Gaspar (late Antonino) and the late Conceiçaō Benevides. 

Maria came to Canada on August 7th, 1974, from Azores São Miguel. Born in Capelas, Portugal. Maria came to Canada two years after her late husband, with her five daughters, she resided in Manitouwadge for 49 years. Maria will be remembered by her many nieces, nephews and friends in Portugal and Canada.  

Friends may visit Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Manitouwadge on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday September 20th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jerome Nnanna officiating. Interment will follow at the Manitouwadge Cemetery.
