Obituary of Lillian Barbara Robinson

ROBINSON, Lillian Barbara (nee Crozier) – Passed away peacefully at the Chapleau Health Centre, on Sunday May 28, 2023 in her 90th year.

Beloved and devoted wife of the late Orville Robinson for 66 years. Loving mother of Cheryl Tessier (Daniel) and Janice Simpson (Tim Schmidt, late Peter Simpson). Proud grandmother of Cary, Robin (Kris), Thane (Petrina), Lindsay and Jessica (Clay). Great grandmother of Brody, Steven, Reese, Everett, Linden, Wesley and Ryann. Survived by her brother Thane Crozier (Helen) of Elliot Lake, Ontario.  She is predeceased by her siblings and their spouses Clair Crozier (Audrey), Leigh Crozier (June), Dorothy Thrasher (Cecil), Shirley Couling (Richard) and also an infant sister Esther. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.

Lillian was born in Darnley, Prince Edward Island, daughter of the late William Bruce and Beatrice White (Campbell) Crozier. Following the death of her young mother, her family moved to Chapleau, a booming railway town in Northern Ontario. This is where she met Orville, her future husband.

After graduating from Chapleau High School, Lillian entered Teachers College in North Bay. Returning to Chapleau, she embarked on a career in education of over three decades teaching every grade in the Public School. Along the way with many weekend studies and summer schools, she obtained three university degrees. Lillian was a very caring person for family, friends and students. In retirement, she was an active volunteer and leader in the United Church and the Chapleau Hospital Board.

Longing for her roots, Lillian and Orville built a cottage (Beatrice Bluffs) on Darnley Bay, P.E.I, just across from her birthplace farm. Many enjoyable summers were spent there with family and friends.

At Lillian’s request, no funeral services will take place. Cremation will take place at River’s Edge Cremation Centre, Sault Ste. Marie. A celebration of her life will be held in P.E.I. at a later date. (Arrangements entrusted to Kerry Funeral Home, Wawa, 1-800-439-4937). www.kerryfuneralhome.ca
