Obituary of Patricia Ann Desmoulin
DESMOULIN (nee Michano), Patricia Ann
August 20th, 1951 – December 29th, 2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Desmoulin (nee Michano) “Sun Eagle Woman” on Thursday, December 29th, 2022 surrounded by her loving family and friends. In the sacred custom of the Anishinaabe people, a sacred fire has been lit and her spirit will be feasted for 4 nights before her journey into the spirit world. Where she will be lovingly welcomed by her parents Reno & Matilda Michano, her brothers Edgar & Gerry, numerous friends & relatives – especially Colette, Protheus, Alvina & Leona. She will be dearly missed by her husband Jerald Desmoulin, daughters Tammy & Jessica, her grandsons Colby, Axel & Micah, her sister Bonnie and surviving brothers Randy and Anthony. Patricia had a special place in her heart for all of her nieces & nephews, her home was always a warm and loving place that they all recall spending countless hours there during childhood.
Patricia spent a majority of her life in Biigtigong Nishnaabeg, a place she was proud to call home. Having worked various jobs until she found herself in the comforting environment of assisting people in the local health centre, Patricia dedicated her time there happily until her retirement. Patricia loved to travel as much as she could, whether it was some place hot and sunny or lush and mountainous, Trish was always willing to be a faithful travel partner so long as there was a casino nearby. Patricia will be remembered for her infectious smile and laugh, her ability to find the goodness within people and her adventurous spirit.
A final ceremony will take place on Monday, January 2nd, 2023 at the Community Hall in Biitigiong Nishnaabeg. The ceremony is an open to all with a feast to follow.
I thought I saw her face today
In the sparkle of the morning sun.
And then I heard the angel say,
"Her work on earth is done."
I thought I heard her voice today
Then laugh her hearty laugh.
And then I heard the angel say,
"There's peace, little one, at last."
I thought I felt her touch today
In the breeze that rustled by.
And then I heard the angel say,
"The spirit never dies."
I thought that she had left me
For the stars so far above.
And then I heard the angel say,
"She left you with her love."
I thought that I would miss her
And never find my way.
And then I heard the angel say,
"She's with you every day."
