Gerard Jolicoeur posted a condolence

My name is Gerry Jolicoeur: I grew up knowing Phil in our early to late teens on the west side of Windsor. The kids back then played outside all day even in the winter. Families had backyard ice rinks and be formed a neighborhood hockey league. Kids would sit on rooftops and fences to watch us play. Phillip “coached” and played for the team on Partington Street. I played on the Collage Avenue team coached by Denis Parco. Denis was a big fat guy who was always hungry. One day, before our game with Phillip’s team, Denis sold me to Phillip for 25 cents and a bag of potato chips! I was mortified! I went ballistic and played like a fiend for Phillip’s team and scored a bunch of goals! I even blasted my own brother Art who was playing for my former team. I’ll always remember Phillip because he “found value” in my hockey abilities, and bought me for that ridiculous amount. He was nice guy too. Rest in peace Phillip Kenny. We alterboys have to stick together. Go with God Phil. You were a “good egg”.

I was very saddened to hear of Philips passing. He was undoubtedly one of the kindest and gentlest people that I ever knew.

I was so sorry to read today news of Philip’s passing. He was our friend and neighbour for many years and Bob & I had the greatest admiration for the man we came to know. Philip was a man of many skills and interests and we learned a lot from time spent in his company. Sincere condolences to the family.
