Obituary of Yvonne Kohls

KOHLS, Yvonne - In loving memory of our Mother/Grandmother who passed peacefully at the Chapleau Health Services on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the age of 81 years. Daughter of the late Adelard and Lucienne Fournier (nee Lamarre). Beloved wife of Harry (Hal) Kohls (predeceased 2012), loving mother to Kim, Diana (Barry), Greg (Rena pre-deceased), Randy (Anna), Fred. Proud grandmother to 14 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren.
 
Survived by brother Rene Fournier (Nan) of Vancouver, sisters Yvette Fournier of North Bay and Therese Smortchevsky (Nick) of Kelowna. Predeceased by sister Georgette Fournier, brothers Yvon  and Jean Claude Fournier.
 
Celebration of life and burial will take place in Biscotasing, Sunday, June 30, 2019 when family can be together. In lieu of flowers, donations to Chapleau Health Centre, Activation Department  or charity of your choice would be appreciated. Family would like to thank the Chapleau Health  Services for the excellent, personalized care they gave to our Mother/Grandmother. We took  comfort in knowing she was cared for.
 
Mom/Grandma will be remembered for her love of family, many years of Nursing, great sense of humor, and her feisty approach to life. She was an advocate (along with other strong women) for Unionizing Nurses, Housekeeping and Dietary staff at Chapleau Lady Minto Hospital and was also a Social Worker who ensured, through the court system, children in care did not leave the community and their families. She was instrumental in keeping the Budd Car running on CPR line, Biscotasing road maintenance (once a trail) and the installation of hydro to Biscotasing.  In her quiet time, she loved to write poetry, quilting, crocheting, knitting and picking berries. She had a passion for history and loved to read. 
 
Mom/Grandma was the matriarch of the family and we miss her dearly. We know she is with our   Dad/Grandpa, Dancing in the Sky and likely in charge. Love you Mom/Grandma xo
