We moved to Wawa in 1998 to Pastor at Calvary. One of our first memories of Duane was (The very first Sunday when Duane and Marcel came up to collect the offering. I asked Duane to pray over the offering. He right away pointed to Marcel to pray as he looked like he was going to pass out). During the years pastoring in WAWA we became close friends and continued to visit over the years. Duane will always be remembered for his involvement on the worship team, his desire to help others, his quiet gentle spirit and his laughter.
We will miss you Super sheep.

I met Duane and Kathy many years ago when they first moved to Wawa and came to the Pentecostal Church. Duane helped lead worship as he sang and played his guitar. Whenever I saw Duane and Kathy, they were either holding hands or Duane had his arms around Kathy. They led Prayer Meetings-always moving together. Duane was a great cook. I've eaten his cooking both at their home and in Church. All the days of his life were filled with being a Husband, Father and Friend. Before he went to Heaven, Duane Blessed all of his children and Grandchildren. Now Duane is in Heaven, out of all pain. Father, Bless Kathy, their children and Grandchildren to continue to live the full life that you have for them. Amen.

Dad, I will miss you so much. There was so many more conversations I wanted to have with you. So many projects I wanted to complete with you. So many songs I wanted to play with you. We had so many laughs, that are now tears. It hurts that you are gone. I know you are now in the presence of your saviour which brings me comfort.
"For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." 1 Corinthians 13:12

It's the small things I remember best.....fighting over who would wash and who would dry the supper dishes so we could get to the skating rink. Fighting pirates together from the canoe at camp. How much he loved his first car, despite all the work it needed....he drove me to work without complaint many a time. How gloriously happy he was on his wedding day. How his carpenter's skills reminded me of our Dad. How proud he was of his children and their accomplishments. The wacky sense of humour we shared, and a million more things. He will always be my beloved younger brother.

I want to personally extend our deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of Duane. On behalf of the entire Superior East OPP Detachment, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.
Duane was a quiet, steady, and exceptionally dependable member of our team. His professionalism and dedication to our detachment over the years made a meaningful difference and those of us had the privilege of working with him held him in the highest regard. Duane served with integrity and kindness and he will truly be missed. While no words can ease the loss you and your family are feeling , I hope you can find comfort in knowing the positive impact Duane had on those around him - both at work and within the community. His contributions to our detachment will not be forgotten.
With heartfelt sympathy

Hey Duane, if or when you get this message I just wanted to thank you so much for teaching me a lot of things on the sound system, and even a bit of electrical. You have been one of my biggest prayers throughout this tough time, and I pray wherever God takes you from here that you continue to know the greatest peace that can ever be given. The peace of knowing and trusting God. Thank you for being a great and memorable part of my life. You were also a real inspiration to continue in learning music. I don't have words to describe my thankfulness for everything you have done for all of us, but we are all incredibly thankfull. Love you man, and thank you for being one of the best people to look up to.

I'll always remember Duane as a happy go lucky happy kinda man...I'm gonna miss our Lil talks on our way to your place for our visits and Christmas of 2025 together...I was so happy to be there and was made to feel like I was at home...I loved his Lil quirky laugh...always tryna lift others..and make you laugh...if the world had more ppl like Duane the world would be a much better place...I remember I suggested we all wear red..and he had a red sweater on but it got to hot for him to wear so he came out with his Grey shirt in the picture...he couldn't find another red shirt....Duane felt honored when I asked him to help pastor Baptise me...I'll never forget this special man. That I got the privilege to know and blessed to b his friend in Christ...Duane you will never be forgotten..you were to nice of a guy...I'll never forget all the great things that made you...you!

Duane will be greatly missed, he was like a father to me, always ready to help out without expectations. I will miss the jokes that made you think before getting it. Anytime I turned around he was there giving a hand, I already miss my partner but I know you will be watching over us. It makes a big void in our family but you will always be in our hearts.

Q: What was one of the qualities of Duane that you loved most?
A: Duane was an absolute testimony of his faith right to the day he went to be with the Father. He witnessed to many people in his journey while here amongst us. Some lives were heartfelt and touched even though he did not personally meet them. On Sunday February 8th... a beautiful picture of him and his wife was posted on a screen in the church and we had a special time to honor Duane's life with the song Goodness of God. There was not a dry eye in the church - everyone was moved to tears.
Kirk and I will truly cherish every moment we shared together visiting - fellowshipping and worshipping. He encouraged Kirk to pick up the guitar and play in the worship team at church. Ever since that day Kirk has been not only playing but sharing in testimonies how his brother in the Father was his inspiration.
Duane has left us with so many wonderful memories that we are honored to have walked in the faith together. One day we will be worshipping with Duane once again.... as we can only imagine what Duane is witnessing this very moment.
Duane will most certainly never be forgotten and was loved dearly.

What a wonderful brother in the Lord Duane was! He was always ready to help whenever there was a need and he had such a mischievous sense of humor! We have many precious memories of our time in Wawa. Especially the Friday night suppers and fellowship times. We know that we will meet again in Heaven. May God bring His Comfort and Peace to Kathy and the family. Love and prayers xoxo
