In my early twenties I was poor, unemployed, and seeking a job. At this time in Lucienne’s life, she was the bar manager at the lounge of the Wawa Motor Hotel. Lucy hired me and trained me for the position of bartender. We were coworkers whose relationship grew over the years to become dear friends. Lucy would often pick me up after my shift and drive me home, out of the goodness of her heart. Lucy and I quit our Wawa Motor jobs together, in a planned chaotic sabotaged departure. We laughed about that together.
Lucienne with Eddy took me with them on trips to Sault Ste. Marie, to their financial adviser, Roxanne, where they taught me about investing. Lucy and Eddy owned many properties and I would tag along with them when she would be renovating, renting, buying or selling these properties. Lucienne rented to me an apartment in her home, and later built another suite in their new home, for me. I considered her a second mother. Lucy attended my wedding seeing me off to a new life with my husband.
I knew Lucienne as an; independent, intelligent, principled, loyal, protecting, kind, loving, hardworking, down to earth women who I admired and respected. Lucy along with Eddy gave me my first start in life teaching, mentoring, and sharing their wealth of knowledge with me. She will always be held lovingly in my heart, and sadly it is now my time to say goodbye to her. I share these good times spent together with you, seeing her off to her new life. I will be forever grateful and indebted to Lucienne.
