My dad was my friend and mentor. I met my husband Norm for the first time when he interviewed Norm at our house over a couple of nine pound pickerel that he caught at the seven mile rapids.
I have fond memories of school mornings when he would get up before Tom and I and put on a kettle that whistled when boiled and he would disappear into the washroom until I got up to turn it off.
He loved everyone and I miss him.

Tom Jr and Heather and families: my deepest condolences to you and your families. Your father was such a wonderful man. He was so caring and kind. I was so sad to hear of his passing. But I'm comforted in knowing that he is reunited with his beloved Betty now. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time, Tracy Amos

On behalf of my family, I would like to offer my condolences to my Cousin Heather, her husband Norm, Tommy and his wife Bonnie and their families. Uncle Tom was a kind and gentle man. I have fond memories of fishing and hunting with him, Tommy, Kevin and friends. I remember as a boy I spent many times in Chapleau with my grandparents. Auntie Betty, Uncle Tom and family, we had lots of fun. I remember a time the boat Uncle Tom and I were in, It was loaded with drift wood. Unfortunately the boat overturned due to the load and we went for a swim lol. Being a kid, I was scared but my Uncle Tom made sure I was safe. I remember Uncle Tom putting me on his shoulders and we were singing let's all go to A&W on our way back to the cottage , which helped calm me down. My mom and Aunt Betty, were worried about us and could hear us singing the A&W song. Uncle Tom was a Conservation Officer and I remember how important he looked in his uniform, I had such great respect for him. Uncle Tom thank you for such great times and memories, rest in peace. Love Bill, Scarlet Bamford and family xoxo

Tom was a signific influence in my life, particularly in my early years. When I was a boy in Chapleau Tom's in laws, the Montgomery's lived just up the street from us and were good friends of my parents. Tom would often visit and he made a lasting impression on me in his spiffy Conservation Officer uniform and quiet demeanor.
It was because of Tom's influence that I applied and was accepted in Ranger School. In the summer of 1966 I became a Conservation Officer and Tom became my first Lands and Forests supervisor.
I worked for Tom for three years and have numerous memories of our various enforcement and wildlife management assignments. One memory I often reflect on was when we caught a couple American hunters night hunting for moose and seized their firearms. Returning home close to midnight I told Tom I felt bad for the hunters because the seizure of their guns meant their hunt was over. Tom's response, "You didn't do it to them, they did it to themselves when they chose to break the law". Wise words from an insightful man.
Lil and I left Chapleau in 1969 but over the years stayed in touch. The last time I saw Tom was last summer when I visited him in the extended care unit of the Chapleau hospital. He no longer remembered me but he will continue in my memory and those of his family friends and co-workers.
