Obituary of Leona Larocque

LAROCQUE, Leon - In Loving Memory of Leona Larocque 1938 – 2025.

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Leona Larocque at the age of 86 on Wednesday May 7^th, 2025. A woman of profound strength, unshakable perseverance, and quiet grace, Leona was the beloved matriarch of her family - a guiding light who brought warmth, love, and compassion to all who had the honour of knowing her.

Leona's presence lit up every room she entered. Her radiant smile, kind spirit, and open heart were her gifts to the world. She led her life with unwavering devotion to her family, and her legacy will forever be carried in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Leona is now reunited in heaven with her cherished son, Desmond Edwards, her sister Denise and brother Henri, and other family members - a reunion of peace and eternal love. She leaves behind her sons, Richard Larocque, Dennis Larocque, and Conrad Larocque (Tahise Demers), whose lives she shaped with her strength and care. She was a proud Mémère to Keiko Larocque (Liam Dingle), Cejay Larocque (Abby Barbeiro), and Cody Larocque - each a testament to her love and guidance. She will be missed by her sisters Aline and Simone, and brother Gerard, along with her many nieces and nephews. Her loyal pet Maxi remains as a tender connection to her presence on earth, until the day they are together again. Leona was more than a mother, Mémère, sister, and friend - she was the heart of her family, the center of many cherished memories, and a source of endless comfort.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Chapleau General Hospital for the attention, care, and kindness they gave Leona during the last five months of her life. Your compassion made all the difference in her final chapter.

She is in everything now - the golden sun, the gentle moon, the whispering wind, and the endless stars. Though she may have left this world, her spirit lives on in the beauty around us and the love that binds us. Forever loved. Forever missed. Until we meet again, Mémère.
